In times of chaos, it’s easy to miss small details. For example, sometimes people confuse Millers Mutual with other companies that have “Millers” in their name. Take a quick moment to check your rental property insurance documents. If you see “Millers Mutual” or “Millers Capital Insurance Company,” you’re in the right place.
We’ll need certain information when you contact us, so we can start processing your claim right away. To help us better serve you, please be ready to provide:- Your contact information (name, phone number, email address)
- Name of insured (displayed on all policy documents)
- Policy number (displayed on all policy documents; three letters followed by nine digits)
- Date of rental property loss
- Location of loss
- Description of loss (type of property damage, description of injuries, etc.)
- If you have someone else you’d like to handle all communications about this claim, please include their name, phone and email.
Once you’re ready, report the claim using the option that’s most convenient for you:
- Phone: Call us at 800-745-4555, option 2. If necessary, leave a voicemail and we’ll return your call, typically within one business day. You can also call your Millers Mutual agent directly to report a claim.
- Email: Email us at reportaclaim@millersinsurance.com. Be sure to include the details listed above.
- Online: Complete our online claim reporting form.
Remember, prompt reporting is key, so notify us of a loss as soon as possible.
While you’re on the phone with a claims representative, we’ll gather any additional details we might need, such as the extent of the damage or the events that led up to it. We’ll also assign a unique number and a dedicated claims adjustor to your report, who will evaluate the loss, coordinate claim-related activities (like repairs, estimates, or, if necessary, litigation), and answer questions you have throughout the process.
By the end your conversation, you’ll know what to expect next. If the damage is minor, we may simply ask you to send us a repair estimate from a contractor of your choosing. Your claims adjustor can then authorize you to proceed with repairs based on that estimate. (If the estimate seems inaccurate, the adjustor will advise you on next steps or possible options.)
In the event of extensive rental property loss, we’ll send an appraiser or engineer to assess the situation in person and determine how to best proceed.
